So, you thought that the Apple vs. Samsung legal disputes were coming to a head? Sad news, looks like litigation proceedings will be the main feature of the relationship between the two companies for a few more years yet. The next big hearing is scheduled for sometime in 2014 and features the Galaxy Nexus as well as a lot more recent devices like the Note series and Galaxy Player.
?
In total, there are 8 utility patents allegedly infringed upon by Samsung. In return, Sammy is accusing Apple of infringing on three of its patents with specific iPad, iPod, Mac and iPhone models. As it turns out, however, Judge Koh ? seemingly fed up of the sight of the two companies? legal teams, isn?t best pleased with going through yet another lawsuit when they could be settled in other, smaller court cases currently ongoing. In fact, she?s likely to delay this further from its current 2014 schedule.
Will we ever see the end of this legal fight? Who knows. But I?m pretty sure the two will not agree on anything amicably or settle for a cross-licensing deal. (Unlike Apple and HTC, who will be happily getting on for the next 10 years. Or until HTC goes bust).
