Man in Canada offers reward for info on trailer stolen in Ogden

OGDEN ? A man from Canada is offering a $1,000 reward for information leading to the return of his cargo trailer contents stolen last month from a Motel 6 parking lot in Ogden.

Geoff Readman and his wife, Jessie, who live in the hamlet of Ardrossan in Alberta, Canada, were traveling from their winter home in Yuma, Ariz., when the trailer, measuring about 5 feet wide by 8 feet long, was stolen either late April 1 or early on April 2.

The couple spent the night at the Motel 6 on Washington Boulevard and parked their van towing the trailer in a parking lot.

The white trailer was transporting items valued at about $32,000, including several remote-controlled planes, golf equipment, numerous DVDs, genealogical documents and other items, Geoff Readman said.

The trailer was in the parking lot late April 1 but was gone the next morning.

?They (the thieves) pried the lock or cut it off and drove away with it,? Geoff Readman said, adding he couldn?t believe the trailer was stolen. ?I was beside myself.?

He is trying to determine if the contents in the trailer are insured.

The trailer theft is being investigated by Ogden police. Anyone with information about the trailer can call?Readman at 780-998-3049.
